Sheila Ann Ellis, age 71, of Portage, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 28th, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on December 31, 1952, in Utica, NY to George and Jane Follmer. Sheila was a local elementary school teacher in River Forest for over 35 years and a dedicated member of Augustana Lutheran Church where she frequently volunteered in the Food Pantry. She is survived by her husband, Terry Ellis, daughter and son-in-law Kaitlin and Mathew Barbur, and her grandchildren, Lincoln and Hudson Barbur, as well as her sister, brother, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Sheila enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with friends, and gardening. She will be remembered for her fierce love for her family and friends, dedication to the Chicago Cubs, and phenomenal German chocolate cupcakes.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Augustana Lutheran Church food pantry.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 am at Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church, 207 Kelly Street, Hobart, IN 46342, with Pastor Scott Mauch officiating.
