SHEILA F. LATTA, age 68, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011at Regency Hospital in Portage, Indiana. Sheila had been a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and had been employed as a supervisor at Whispering Pines Nursing Home in Valparaiso. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Station.
Sheila is survived by her fiance & companion, Mr. Alonzo Headd, daughter, Denise Slade (fiance, James Powell) of Portage, son, Bobby (Shelly) Slade of Hobart, 7 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, 4 brothers: Virgil (Marlyn) Stahl of South Bend, James Foster of Portage, Stephen (Joann) Foster of Niles, MI, Chris (Rocio) Foster of Mongolia, China, 3 sisters: Janelle (Mario) Morales of Portage, Roxanne (Keith) Banks of Corpus Christi, TX and Lori (Daniel) Fernandez of South Haven, numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James Foster, stepfather, Leroy Stahl, mother, Ardella Stahl and brother, Tim Foster. In lieu of flowers contributions to the family would be appreciated.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 10 am at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station, with Rev. David A. Nykamp officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Township Center Cemetery in Walkerton, Indiana at 1:00 PM (Eastern Time).
