SHIRLEY M. BROWN (nee Brickley), age 89, of Merrillville, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013. She was born on October 23, 1923 in Fort Sill, OK to Joash and May Brickley. Shirley was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church and the Friends of the Lake County Public Library. She retired from Devaney/TJ Boyle Realty in 2005 after 52 years of service and dedication. Shirley will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her brother, Norris (Pat) Brickley her son, Stephen (Donna) Brown; 2 daughters, Cathleen (Larry) Reese and Cynthia Keever; daughter-in-law, Shirleen Brown, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; other family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Helen Schuster, and her son, Lawrence Brown.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Consolation, 8303 Taft St., Merrillville, with Rev. Peter J. Muha officiating. Visitation will be just prior to service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Services will conclude at the church. There will be a private burial at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
