Shirley Ann Cosner

Shirley Ann Cosner, age 88, of Portage went to join her Lord and her husband in Heaven on Thursday April 30, 2026, at the Brickyard Healthcare of Portage. Shirley was born July 31, 1937, in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Albert and Violet (Martin) Atkins. Shirley worked as a clerk for the Health Foods Nutrition Center, she drove bus and became a supervisor for the LCAR sheltered workshop, she later drove bus for the Portage Township School System. A devout Christian she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Portage and attended Grace Baptist Church. She enjoyed bowling and spending time with her friends and family. Her greatest joy was being a mother.

Shirley is survived by her five children, Edward “Chip” (Abigail) Cosner of De Pere, WI, Gregory Cosner of Cromwell, Larry (Jennifer) Cosner of Lake Station, Kevin (Angela) Cosner of Portage, and Kathleen Meade of Portage; Fifteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Cosner, Sr.; her parents, Albert, and Violet; and two sisters, Lorraine Frink, and Jacqueline Luci.

A private graveside funeral service will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Portage, Indiana. Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel assisted with Funeral Arrangements.
