SHIRLEY A. DAVIS (nee Elston), age 72, of Peru, formerly of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010, while surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on January 31, 1938 in Effingham, IL. She married Laurel J. Davis, Sr., on December 30, 1954 in Crown Point. Shirley liked to fill her time reading and watching birds.

Shirley is survived by her children, Laurel Joe (Anita) Davis, Jr. of Peru, Judy Davis of Hobart, Elaine (David) Ellis of Las Vegas, NV, Gail (Jim) King of Bradenton, FL, and Susan Wingard of Greencastle; 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurel J. Davis, Sr.; grandson, John Joseph Nixon; her parents, 3 brothers, Donald Emerson Elston, Eugene Lloyd Elston, Leo Everett Elston; 4 sisters, Louise Coder, Rochell Garcia, Violet Larimer, Geraldine Cox.

A funeral service for Shirley will be Monday, October 18, 2010 at 12 Noon at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge, Hobart, with Chaplain Brent Kirby officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will also be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Rees Funeral Home, (219) 942-2109.
