Shirley Jean Hale Chandler

Shirley J. (Hale) Chandler, age 86 of Hobart, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025. She was born on August 23, 1939, in London, Kentucky to the late Hobart and Julia Hale. On March 18, 1967, she married Kenneth Chandler in Portage. Shirley was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed collecting memorabilia. She also enjoyed sewing. She will always be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, and friend.

She is survived by her sons, Willard Chandler, Jeff Chandler; step daughter, Debbie Chandler; sister, Sharon Geck; sister-in-law, Rhoda Hale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobart and Julia Hale; her husband, Kenneth Chandler; brothers, Willard Hale, Willis Hale; and infant brother, Lowell Hale.

Visitation for Shirley will be held Monday, September 15, 2025 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at McCool Cemetery in Portage. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
