Shirley Kanzler,

Shirley Kanzler, of Hobart, IN, passed away March 3, 2025, at age 93. She was born on January 27, 1932, to the late Harry and Mildred (nee Bailey) Kanzler. She was a member of First Baptist Church in New Chicago. She worked ironing for families in her spare time and volunteered her time at Millers Mary Manor in Hobart. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and making many beautiful blankets.  She is survived by her niece Shirlene (Penny) Jones, Virginia (Jerry), Nelson, Veronica Gomez and Celeste Wigsmoen; three nephews. David (Ellie), Jeff (Lori) and George Kanzler; her fur baby, Chi Chi and other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris Centracchio, two brothers Robert and Raymond Kanzler and niece, Dora Jean Soltis.

A funeral service for Shirley will be held at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Stepp officiating on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart Indiana 46342. Her burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of service.
