SHIRLEY ANN NALLEY-ORTIZ, age 59, of Portage, formerly a longtime Lake Station resident, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at Saint Mary Medical Center. She was born on July 8, 1953 in Bessemer, AL. Shirley enjoyed crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, watching Hallmark, Lifetime and Western movies and soap operas. She liked the color purple and collecting unicorns and angels, and loved spending time with her grandkids and family. Shirley will be missed dearly. She was a strong and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.Shirley is survived by her husband, Hector Ortiz; 3 children, Shane (Elisea) Nalley of Lake Station, Nathan (Trisha) Nalley of Lake Station, and Saundra Nalley-Ortiz of Portage; 4 grandchildren, Diamond, Nathan Jr., Noah, and Kayla Nalley; 3 siblings, William Lewis (Cindra) Nalley, Jr., Belinda Ruth (Walter Joe) Davis, and Stephen Dwayne Nelson; nieces and nephews, Choa Davis, Shaun Nalley, Ryan Nalley, Angelic Davis and Shannon Nalley; numerous great nieces and nephews and other loving family and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William L. Nalley and Patricia Ann Nelson.
A funeral service for Shirley will be Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake Station with Rev. Jonathan Barley officiating. Burial at Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday, July 27, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel.
