Shirley J. Reams

Shirley J. Reams, age 82 of Valparaiso passed away Friday September 9, 2022.  She was born on April 30, 1940, to the late Joseph and Elsie Spisak.  She was a former Portage resident.  Shirley enjoyed going to the casino.  She loved playing poker and other card games and was very competitive.  She also loved country music especially Josh Turner.

She is survived by her daughter, Renee Jerkins of Valparaiso, IN; one brother, Duane (Sandra) Spisak of Highland, IN; one sister-in-law, Monica Spisak of Highland, IN; three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jon) Cowley, Samantha Bogunovich, Allyson (Dylan) Bogunovich, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Jerkins Sr., and Cecil Reams, one son, Gerald Jerkins Jr., three brothers, Kenneth (Luella) Spisak, Dennis (Phyllis) Spisak, Donald Spisak, and one sister, Betty (Darold) Waelti.

Funeral services are Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Portage.  Visitation is Wednesday just prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.  (219) 762-3013 or www.Reesfuneralhomes.com
