Shirley J. Slider, age 86, of Lake Station passed away Saturday March 15, 2025, at Community Hospital in Munster.  Shirley was born December 21, 1938, in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late Garland and Opal (Shackleford) Swaim. As a young lady she worked on the production line for P Lorillard Tobacco Company. Shirley lived for her family and loved them dearly.

Shirley is survived by her daughters-in-law, Peggy Bellow of Greensboro, NC and Joni Bellow of Hobart; grandchildren, Christopher Parsley, Erica (Brad) Parsley, Chrissy (Terry) Pickard, Nicole (Jay) Goss; Bo Bellow, Cara (Justin) Robinson, and Charlie Bellow; fourteen great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Cletes McCaskill and Faye Foust both of Greensboro; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends; and sadly, her last surviving child, Gregory Bellow died the day following his mother's death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland Swaim, Opal (Dewey) Jordan; husband, Robert "Bob" Slider; fiancé Richard Antonavich; son, Howard Bellow, Jr., and daughter Pamela Parsley.

Visitation for Shirley will be held Wednesday March 19, 2025, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. Her funeral service will follow immediately at 12:30 pm. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Crown Point, Indiana.
