SPC David Jose Claudio, age 21, of Fort Carson, Colorado and formerly of Hobart, Indiana passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 6, 2023. He was born on November 24, 2001, in Merrillville, Indiana to Jose and Deliah Claudio. A 2020 Portage High School graduate, he was currently an active-duty service member of the United States Army stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado. David was the light in the darkness, the sunshine on a bad day.  His smile lit up every room he walked into. His laugh was contagious because it was so full of love and life. He was all about his family. He was a great son, brother, and friend. He will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

David is survived by his heart-broken mother, Deliah Claudio; father, Jose Claudio II; brothers, Victor Carlos Garcia and Jose Luis Claudio; sister, Alexie Barnas; maternal grandmother, Maria Claudio; paternal grandparents, Jose and Myrna Claudio; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends.

A funeral service for David will take place Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
