STANLEY P. EDWARDS, age 89, of Portage, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Saint Mary Medical Center. He was born on January 9, 1926 in Hammond. Stanley served in the US Army and was a retiree of Indiana Harbor Belt. He was a member of the Portage American Legion #260 and enjoyed golfing and fishing in his spare time. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret (nee Boatright); loving daughter, Terry (Doug) Orgon of Portage; 2 grandchildren, Sarah and David; 4 great grandchildren, Michael, Hannah, Rachael, and Lynsey; sister, Juanita Hershey of Mesa, AZ; many nieces, nephews, and other family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Rose Edwards; 2 brothers, Arnold and Norman Edwards; and sister, Elaine Lanham.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

A funeral service for Stanley will be Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., with Rev. Jeff Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery.
