STANLEY KAMINSKI, age 84, of Portage, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 surrounded by his sons and those who knew and loved him dearly, at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Stanley was born May 3, 1927 in Gary and graduated from Tolleston High School. He served in the US Navy during WW II and was a member of American Legion Post #207. Stanley married "The Love of his Life", Sophie Legenza in 1952. For almost 40 years, he was known as "Stan the Bread Man", delivering bread daily throughout the Region.
He is survived by 5 sons: Kenneth and Matthew of Portage, David and Paul (Kelly) Kaminski of Valparaiso, Thomas (Susan) Kaminski of Texas, sister-in-law, Annabelle Kaminski, eleven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and beloved nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie in 1987, parents, Antoni & Julia Kaminski, brothers, Theodore & Alex and sister-in-law, Barbara (Rospierski) Kaminski. From 1994 to 2010 he was married to Martha Angotti, who survives, along with her daughters, Laura, Lisa, Maria, Paula and son, Mario.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 2-8 pm with a vigil service at 4:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage, on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Stefan Kosinski, Rev. Walter Rakoczy and Rev. Eric Orzech con-celebrating the Mass. There will be visitation at Church Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass begins at 10 am.
