Age 89, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Brentwood Assisted Living in Hobart. He was born on August 28,1926 in Gary, Indiana to the late, John and Margaret (nee Solik) Knopic. He retired as a Sergeant from the Hobart Police Department in 1971 after 20 years and also worked as a Security Guard at Sears. Steve was a life member of VFW Post 5365 and proudly served in the Navy in World War II.

Steve is survived by his two sons, Michael D. Knopic and Dennis J. Knopic; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Jonathan Garza) Knopic and Margaret "Greta" (Joe) Graham, great grandson Gabriel Knopic; sister, Ann Fedorchak, many other loving family members and friends.

Memorials in Steve's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (nee Robb) Knopic; four brothers, Mike, George, John and Andy Knopic and sister, Margaret Lesko.

Services for Steve will be Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart Chapel, Indiana 46342 beginning with a 1:30 p.m. VFW Service followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm.
