Steve Medved, age 61, of Miller, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was born on November 20, 1956 to Francis and Elizabeth Medved. He is survived by his wife, Lynn (nee Oros); 3 children, Griffin and Olivia Medved and Colin McAdams; grandchild, Kaydence McAdams; mother Elizabeth Medved; 5 brothers, Keith (Mary Beth Bonaventura), Kevin(Susan), Patrick(Becky), John (Angela), Mark (Mary Ann) Medved; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Medved. Those who grew up in and around Gary, Indiana suffered a great loss when Steve passed away in his sleep Saturday night. A founding member of the MOL's (Men of Leisure), he and his friends played in the infamous annual MOL Open golf tournament for 40 years. He was a great athlete; could hit a golf ball a country mile, and in his early adulthood toured the country while playing championship softball. He was well respected and highly regarded by his colleagues and co-workers at the Lake County, Juvenile Court where he served as bailiff. He was famous among all that he knew for his stories. Whether on the golf course, the ballfield, the halls of the courthouse, or the local pub his tales and infectious laugh would bring you to tears. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Steve on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Cathedral, 640 Tyler St., Gary, with Rev. Kevin McCarthy officiating. Services will conclude at the Cathedral. Visitation will be Friday, May 11, 2018 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home,, Hobart Chapel, 600 W.
