Steven J. Burney Sr.
born December 31, 1966, age 44, a longtime resident of Northwest, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 9,2011. He was employed at Electro Motive Diesel in LaGrange, Illinois. He was a 1985 Hobart high school graduate, a former vice president of Merrillville Pop Warner football; he also coached little league baseball and Merrillville youth basketball. Steven started his life with his wife Beth (nee Fulkerson) Burney on June 25,1988.
Steve was an avid fisherman, drag racer and he was a member of Pro E 85 drag racing club. Steven loved and adored his wife, children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.Steve is survived by his loving family, wife Beth (nee Fulkerson) Burney of Merrillville, daughter; Denise (Justin) Riling of Colorado Springs, Colorado, son; Steven (Brittani Rendell) Burney Jr. of Merrillville, grandchildren; Carson Stephan Riling of CO. and Ava Rae Burney of Merrillville, parents; Arlon Burney of Hobart and mother Connie(nee Fattore) Burney of Lake Station, brothers; Michael (Susan Sansone) Burney of Valparaiso, Timothy (Shannon) Burney of Hobart, Sister; Kimberly Burney- Robison of Hobart many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his brother; Terry Burney, nieces; Kiera Burney and Jessica Fulkerson, father-in-law Guy Fulkerson Sr. and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A visitation for Steven Burney will be held from 2:00 to 9:00 pm on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home- Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 16,2011 at 1:00pm . Cremation will follow.
