Steven Carl Estes

Age 66, of Portage, Indiana and formerly of Florida, passed away Tuesday, April 4,2023. He was born October 3,1956 to the late Raymond and Leatrice "Geri" (nee Cogswell) Estes. Steve was employed at Indiana Disability rights, where he worked as an Advocate Specialist. Through his employment he was passionate advocating for people with mental illness and intellectual disabilities. Most of all, Steve supported and loved his wife Mary of 13yrs, his love, compassion, assistance, and positivity of caring for her during her fight with breast cancer. Steve was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing, boating, camping, gardening, and landscaping. His generosity, kindness and sense of humor touched all his friends and family who knew him, he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 13 yrs.., Mary Estes; niece, Angela (Kevin) Barry, great nephew, Ronald Estes Marquette and grandson, Graham Maravilla.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother Geri Estes; father, Raymond C. Estes and his two brothers, Mark, and David Estes.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist, 2637 McCool Road, Portage, Indiana 46368, with Pastor Michael Lawson officiating.
