Steven J. Kubeck, age 58, of Valparaiso passed away Thursday May 23, 2013 at the Porter Regional Hospital. He was born September 23, 1954 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Francis B. and Mary O. (Turk) Kubeck. He was a welder and mechanic working through Local Union #150 Operating Engineers. Steve was a proud supporter of the VFW and NRA, he enjoyed shooting sports and the culinary arts.
Steven is survived by two daughters Kerry Payton of Sacramento, CA and Patricia M. Kubeck of Hobart; two grandsons Christian Brkljac and Garrett Brunker; five brothers and sisters Andrew (Annette) Kubeck of Wheeling, IL, Candace Maicher of Raleigh, NC, Sandra (Ed) Ferry of Murfreesboro, TN, Milan (Lynn) Kubeck of Valley Springs, CA and Mary Kubeck of Pueblo, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers John and Francis Kubeck.
A memorial visitation will be conducted Saturday June 1, 2013 at the Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana from 2-6 pm.
