On Friday morning, July 6, 2018, Susan Elizabeth Dubach, age 60, passed away peacefully in her home after her second battle with cancer.

Susan was born on August 20, 1957, in Gary, Indiana to her loving parents, Sarah A. and the late Charles L. Smith. She and her brother Michael (Jill) Smith grew up in Hobart and in 1975, Susan graduated from Hobart High School and went to study at Indiana University Bloomington.

Forty years ago, in September of 1978, Susan married the love of her life, Louis Dubach, and went on to begin their family. Susan was a selfless, loving, godly mother who leaves behind very grateful children: Janel (Logan), Joshua (Bethany) and Jeffrey, and she is currently in heaven rejoicing in the time she now has to spend with her son Jacob, who preceded her in death as an infant. Susan also took such great pride in her grandchildren, who brought her so much happiness: Gabriella, Lucy, Luke, Caleb and Elizabeth Joy.

During her life, Susan worked for the River Forest School Corporation as a paraprofessional in the Title I program. She loved having the chance to have a positive impact on so many children's lives and was still asking about them, even days before going to glory. She was a member of Bethel Church (formerly Central Baptist) and for years Susan served in their nursery program both on Sunday and Wednesday, forming friendships that would last a lifetime.

Susan has spent her time here on earth giving of herself to others, the way she felt God called us all to do. She was a shining example of Christian love to everyone she met, and this world is a better place to have had her in it. She will be missed more than she ever could have known.

The visitation for Susan will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018, from 4-8pm at Rees Funeral Home in Hobart. The funeral service will be held at Bethel Church's Hobart campus on Monday, July 9, 2018, at 10am.
