Terry Vaughn Hayes

Age 65 of Portage passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021, at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso. He was born on June 10, 1956, in Montebello, California to Robert Charles and Olevia (nee Biggs) Statler. Terry was a 1974, Portage High School graduate, a former owner of Hayes Roofing, Broadway Speedway and Southlake Speedway. He enjoyed racing cars, trap shooting, fishing, golfing, and playing cards with the boys. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his loving son, Richard (Julia) Hayes; granddaughter, Madelyn Hayes; mother, Olevia (Glenn) Statler; mom, Sharon Hayes; significant other, Reva Thomas and her daughter, Victoria West; brother, Cliff (Lisa) Hayes four sisters, Kim (Scott) Carlson, Sandy Shaffner, Sindalyn "Dougie" Wolthuis, Shelly (Al) Reynolds; special friend, Brian K, many nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. Hayes and sister, Carol Ann Coday; and his furry companion, Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry's memory may be made to a charity of your choice. A funeral service for Terry will be Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 1pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368, with Pastor Jerry Martin officiating.
