Thomas Delbert Cripliver of Lake Station, Indiana, passed away September 20, 2016, of natural causes at the age of 91. He was born April 28, 1925, to William and Laura (Grimes) Cripliver in Lexington, North Carolina. Thomas married the love of his life, Doris Jean (Kimmell), in Shelbyville, Kentucky, on July 23, 1945. Thomas worked as a motor inspector for Inland Steel until his retirement in 1988. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy in WWII and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 100. In 1999, he served as Worshipful Master of the Hobart M.L. McClelland Masonic Lodge #357, was a 32nd Degree Shriner, and was an active usher for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Chicago. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Doris Jean, the latter on July 9, 2009. Also preceding him are his two older brothers, William (Christine) and Joseph (Jennie) Cripliver. He is survived by his two sons, John W. (April Miller) and Thomas L. Cripliver, and his two daughters, Sara D. (Douglas) Crandall and Joan Norvil (Thomas) Bresnan; six grandchildren, Amy (Brett) Erow, Jennifer (Joseph) Chen, Lauren and Sara Crandall, Thomas and Christopher (Jeananne) Bresnan, Neil (Margaret) and Chad (Cathleen) McClure, and Autumn (William) Vendramin; 14 great-grandchildren, Isaac, William, and Henry Chen, John and Stephanie Bresnan, Liam, Maeve, Aidan, Declan, Abigail, Ava, and Ronan McClure, and Sedona and Owen Vendramin. Thomas is interred in the Cripliver plot at McCool Cemetery in Portage, Indiana. Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel assisted with arrangements.
