Thomas J. Brown, age 79, of Lake Station passed away Sunday October 18, 2015 at St. Mary Medical Center. Tom was born April 15, 1936 in Peoria, Illinois to the late Jesse and Inez (Hale) Brown. Thomas was a retired outside parts and service representative, who received many awards for outstanding service from Truck City and Gary White and Freightliner Corporation during his 39 years of service. He was a life member of American Legion Post #100, he also was past president and 10 year member of the Liverpool-Oregon Volunteer Fire Department. Thomas joined the Navy at 17 years of age and served aboard the USS Floyds Bay AVP40.

Thomas is survived by his wife Margaret; three daughters Myra R. (fiancé Donald Buchfuehrer) Brown Fromme of Hobart, Vanessa M. (Ronnie) Schroader of Olaton, KY and Peggy E. (Al) Rey of Lake Station; nine grandchildren; Eleven great grandchildren; one sister Nina Toste of California; many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Jesse Brown and Inez Matthews; one son Russell Thomas Brown; one daughter Tommie L. Ordway; one grandson James Puskac; five brothers Thorton, Edward, John, and Charles Colefield and Jesse L. Brown; and one sister Esther Dufrene.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Thursday October 22, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 am until the service time at 1 pm at the funeral home.
