THOMAS C. MAJKA, age 73, of Hobart, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Community Hospital in Munster. Thomas was born on April 2, 1941 in Gary, Indiana. He married the love of his life, Ina (nee Hooker), on September 23 in Portage. Thomas retired from US Steel after many years of service. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed traveling and watching wrestling on TV. Thomas was a man of unconditional love to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by the loving wife of 48 years, Ina; son, Carl (Melody) Miller of Lake Station; 3 daughters, Mary (George) Hairston of New Chicago, Debra Dahlen of Hobart, and Pat (Larry) Breyfogle of AL; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Hanley of Lake Station; best friend, Herman Tschopp of Lake Station; other loving family and friends.

Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Casmire Majka and mother, Mary Penn.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. A funeral service will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel with Pastor Forest Ash officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
