Thomas M. Mendoza, age 77, of Portage, IN passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022.

Thomas was born on January 8, 1945 in Gary, IN to the late Eusebio and Mary (nee Fuentes) Mendoza.  He was a graduate of Gary Edison High School.  Thomas retired from Inland Steel after 30 years and worked as a truck driver.  He was a proud veteran of the Army and served during the Korean War.  Thomas was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church.  He enjoyed bowling and was an avid baseball fan.  Thomas was a huge Chicago Cubs fan and was happy to see them win the World Series in 2016.

Thomas is survived by his sons: Michael (Sandi) Mendoza and Phillip Mendoza; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings: Art, Harry, Dan, and Irma; and many nieces and nephews.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents: Eusebio and Mary, and brothers: David (late Nancy) and William.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W Old Ridge Rd, Hobart) on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 3:00-7:00 P.M.  Prayers will be held at Rees Hobart Chapel on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 10:30 A.M.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place following prayers at St. Bridget Catholic Church (107 Main Street, Hobart, IN) at 11:00 A.M.  At Rest: Calvary Cemetery.
