Thomas J. Nawrocki, age 61 of Portage passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011. He was born on November 13, 1949 in Gary, Indiana. He graduated from Andrean High School in 1968. Thomas worked for the Indiana Department of Corrections. He lived in Tallahassee Florida for over 20 years and was the Exalted Ruler of the Tallahassee Elks. He was also a member and trustee of the Portage Moose. Thomas loved sports and was an avid Cubs, Notre Dame and Bears fan. He loved golfing, socializing with friends and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his father, Joseph Nawrocki of Portage, IN; son, Thomas M. Nawrocki of Portage, IN; daughter, Terressia S. Stumke of Valparaiso, IN; sister, Susan (William) Welch, nephew, Aaron (Tamara) Welch, Aunt, Nancy Micknik, cousins, Corinne (David) Grahovac, and Lana Micknik, longtime friends, Tom Knudson and Ron from Tallahassee and many other special relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by mother, Rose Nawrocki.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 26, 2011 and will begin with 9:30 a.m. prayers at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage and will proceed to St Francis Xavier Church in Lake Station for a 10 a.m. Mass.
