THOMAS NEMTUDA, age 68, of Lafayette and formerly of LaPorte, IN and Murfreesboro, TN, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015. Thomas was born on February 8, 1947 in Gary. He was a former member of Assumption B.V.M. Church in New Chicago, IN and St. Peter Catholic Church in LaPorte, IN. He served in the US Army reserves and was retired from State Farm insurance as a subrogation specialist after 43 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, photography, lighthouses, and was an avid reader. Thomas will be remembered as a loving husband and devoted father to his children and dog, Lady.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara (nee Crocker); 3 daughters, Brenda (Tony) Liles, Laura and Sara Nemtuda; sister, Joan (Robert) Pisarski of Hobart, IN; grandson, Travis (Autumn) Perkins; many nieces and nephews.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Josephine (nee Szczepanski) Nemtuda; brother, Raymond Nemtuda; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 2, 2015 beginning with 9:30 a.m. prayers at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, and going in procession to Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, 3530 Illinois St., New Chicago, for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
