Thomas M. Rospierski, age 72, of New Chicago, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019 at home after a courageous battle with lung disease. He was born on July 8, 1947 in Gary, Indiana to the late Frank and Rose Rospierski. Tom retired from US Steel after 45 years of working as a Millright in #2 caster. He was a district umpire and coached softball and little league. He loved the Chicago Bears and the White Sox. Tom was an avid bowler and was especially proud of the time he bowled a perfect 300 game. He enjoyed deer hunting, gardening and cooking out but most of all papa adored his grandkids and the time he spent with them. He will always be remembered for his willingness to help everyone.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Rospierski; daughters, Lisa (Ricky) Slack, Dana (Steve) Rebeck, Tammy (Darrell) Richardson; son, Thomas Rospierski, Jr.; step son, Bobby Richardson; grandchildren, Robert, Ashley (Aaron), Caressa (Nick), Ryan (Brittany), William, Paige, Brandon, Steven, Alyssa, Matthew and Krysten; great grandchildren, Luke, Madison, Autumn, Lily, Makenzie, Ivory, James and Alorhia; brother, Frank Rospierski; sisters-in-law, Connie Rospierski, Liz Rospierski.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Kenny Rospierski. The family would like to extend a special thank you to friend and caregiver, Angie, for all of her kindness throughout Tom's illness.

A funeral service for Tom will take place Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home. Cremation will follow services. For more information, please call (219) 762-3013.
