IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas E.
Waldron
October 29, 1948 – December 23, 2021
Thomas Eugene Waldron, age 73 of Hobart, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 peacefully with his family at his side. He was born on October 29, 1948 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Lyle and Regina Waldron. On March 24, 2007, he married his soul mate, Derrell Waldron. They spent every day since living their best life together.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Derrell Waldron; daughters, Ann Marie (Michael) Simmons, Stacy (Jon) Vasilak, Maria Williams; sons, Louis McGhee, Nathaniel McGhee; grandchildren, Katherine (Tim Moriarty) Piscione; Jonathon and Emily Vasilak; Eric, Cameron, Kari, Kayla, Jacz Williams and Natalie McGhee; brothers, Robert (Rebecca) Waldron, Steve (Glenda) Waldron; sister, Linda Waldron; sister-in-law, Kathy Waldron; and many loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Waldron; mother, Regina Walker; and his brother, Curtis Waldron.
Tom grew up working in the fields on the farm. He attended both Merrillville and Griffith High School and graduated from Merrillville. Shortly after graduation, he started to work at the mill. He transitioned as the mills transitioned from owner working at Youngstown, J&L and LTV. He retired from LTV and then worked for Monosol until he retired for good. He worked as an Electronic Repair Technician throughout the years. He had an amazing mind and was good at his job. He was willing to help anyone who needed help. He was an amazing plumber, electrician, home builder, and whatever other role he needed fulfill to help out those he cared about. While Tom was a quiet soul, he was one of the most stubborn men you will ever meet. He inherited the Waldron stubbornness and temper. The running joke around the campfire when his kids were younger was that you knew you were in trouble when the vein popped out on his forehead.
Tom was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, boating and camping. He loved to garden. You would find him working outside at home or their lake house mowing the lawn and tending to his yard. He loved to be on the water jet skiing. Other times you would find being him the captain of grill. He enjoyed wildlife and watching the deer in the yard with Derrell (unless it was the moles, he definitely had a hatred for the moles). While Tom loved his wife and children, his pride and joy were his grandkids and no one was prouder of their grandkids. Tom's favorite past time was spending time with his grandkids. You could see the light in his eyes when his grandkids were near or he was talking about them. You will never meet a man more proud of his grandchildren. He would drive from Monticello to Northwest Indiana just to make a game. There were days where he went from game to game to game to see all his grandkids play. Whether he was watching a volleyball, soccer, basketball or football game; a wrestling match; robotic tournaments; music concerts; award ceremonies, you could see the pride in his eyes. He was the most supportive Papa Tom, he could be.
