Tom Johnson

Thomas "Tom" H. Johnson, age 87, of Portage, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, December 4, 2020.  He was born in Gary, Indiana on September 22, 1933 to the late Walter and Emma (nee Andersen) Johnson.  Tom was a veteran of The United States Army.  He retired as a service technician from Montgomery Ward.  Tom enjoyed fishing, watching the news, and keeping up with politics.  He was always very generous with his time and talent with fixing things. Tom was a devoted husband even after separated from Lynn due to illness.   He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Lynn (nee Haussman) Johnson; sons, Steven (Vicki) Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Greg (Jody) Johnson; daughters, Cindy (Jesse) Fultz, Kristy Johnson; daughter-in-law, Debbie Johnson, grandchildren, Nicole (TJ) Black, Christopher Johnson, David Johnson, Kyle (Codi) Johnson, Alex Johnson, Alyssa (Tyler) Spoolstra, Jennifer Fultz, Natalie Fultz, Erik Green; great grandchildren, Greenlee, Ian, Emmit, Beckett, David, Jr., Dylan; and brother, Robert (Lily) Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Johnson; sister, Nyla Bugarin; grandson, baby Jacob; and his parents.

Please note that due to Porter County Covid 19 restrictions the visitation and funeral service will be limited to 25 people at one time.  Masks will be required and hand sanitizer will be available.  We ask that everyone helps us in keeping everyone safe and practices social distancing.
