UNA L. BARNEY, age 92, of Hobart, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso. Una was born in East Lynn, IL on January 16, 1919 to John and Louella McKee. She worked at Meister Elementary in many capacities over the course of 25 years and was also very involved with Boy Scouts. Una was a member of the South Haven Church of the Nazarene. She will be missed dearly.

Una is survived by her 2 sons, John (Faye) Barney of Wheeler and Ronald (Laura) Barney of Portage; 1 daughter, Sharon L. Hamilton of Valparaiso and 1 adopted daughter, Pat (Wayne) Hyre of IL; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Mueller of AL; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; infant daughter, Kharon; her parents; 5 sisters and 1 brother.

A funeral service for Una will be Monday, September 19, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Hobart with Rev. Charles L. Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery in Portage.
