Vanessa L. Bodo

Vanessa L. Bodo, age 47, of Lake Station passed away Friday, June 15, 2018. She was born on April 15, 1971 in La Follette, TN. She was a 1990 graduate of Hanover Central High School. She married Michael Bodo on September 24, 1994. Nessa was a woman of faith who always put other people first. She loved kids and dedicated her career life to working with them as an Educational Aid for Bailey Elementary School in Lake Station. She loved country music and cooking and will always be remembered for her famous broccoli casserole.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Michael Bodo; daughter, Michaela Bodo; sister, Gina (Michael) Seifert; aunts, Judy (Gloyid) Daugherty; Carolyn (Wayne) Foster, Lois (Gary) Byrd; nieces, Samantha Seifert, Megan Bodo, Nichole Bodo, Kinsley Shipman; nephews, David Seifert and Carter Peak;  other family members, Joseph (Cindy) Bodo Jr., Steven (Monik) Bodo, Christopher Bodo, Mary Cox, Lisa (Brandon) Shipman; close friends and neighbors, John and Rita Hutman along with many other cousins and friends.

Vanessa was preceded in death by her mother, Janet Chastain and maternal grandmother, Gemima Hughett.

Visitation for Nessa will be held Monday, June 18, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 19, 2018 directly at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Road, Portage with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service.
