Vanessa Muñoz, age 35, of Lake Station, IN and formerly of Berwyn, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Vanessa was born on August 7, 1987 in Chicago, IL to Francisco Muñoz and Rosa Mercado.  She was a beautiful and caring person with a big heart.  Vanessa LOVED love and adored her family.  She loved her nieces and nephews and her cats.  She was a great cook and enjoyed playing board games and singing karaoke with her family.  Vanessa was a loving sister, wife, aunt, cousin, niece, and dear friend to many.  She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky to know her.

Vanessa is survived by her brothers: Joshua Rodriguez, Francisco Muñoz, and Raphael Loyola; sisters:Angelica Quigley, Esmerelda Corona, Jessica Muñoz, Ashley Muñoz, and Anais Muñoz; wife: Julissa Cotts; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; godson: Davien; step-mother: Isis Pacheco; aunt: Vanessa Vega; uncle: Michael Vega; and best friend: Jessica Garza.

Vanessa is preceded in death by her sister: Marisol Aviles.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home Hobart Chapel 600 W Old Ridge Rd., Hobart on Thursday June 8, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  A funeral service will take place at Rees Hobart Chapel on Thursday at 1:00 pm with Isis Pacheco officiating. She will be laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Park.
