Verna L. McCoy, age 97 of Valparaiso passed away Monday, April 14, 2014. She was born on December 14, 1916 in Marion, Ohio to the late Vernal and Marie Brady. She was a longtime Lake and Porter County resident. Verna worked as a Homemaker raising her family.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Sandra (Tom) Crowe of Hebron, IN, Janet (Frank) Jelenek of Griffith, IN, Geraldine Nowak of Hammond, IN; 1 sister, Doris Krulik of North Judson, IN; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death her husbands, Clyde Dodson in 1965, and Murry McCoy in 1992; 1 son, Clyde Dodson, Jr.; 1 daughter, Wilma Marie Dodson; 1 granddaughter, Janice Oprisko; 2 brothers, Monte and Denzel Brady; 3 sisters, Hazel Zorski, Thelma Alaf, and Mona Julian.

Funeral services are Friday, April 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 10909 Randolph St., Winfield/Crown Point, 46307. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville.
