Vernon C. Jones

Vernon C. Jones, age 56, of Portage passed away Wednesday April 13, 2016 at Porter Regional Hospital. Vernon was born May 2, 1959 in Gary, Indiana to the late Orville and Martha (Greene) Jones. He retired from the Maintenance/Housekeeping Department of Valparaiso University. He was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend.

Vernon is survived by his wife Annette; eight children J. Joe Jones, Christopher Lauderbeck, Richard Wilson, Robert Wilson, Anthony Wilson, Hilda Wilson, Erica Wilson, and April Wilson; thirty-three grandchildren; a brother James D. Jones; a sister Shirley Jordan; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Lillian Waid and Virginia Alexander; and three brothers Jerry, Billy and Jimmy Jones.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Monday April 18, 2016 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46368 with Pastors Chuck and Minnie Munsell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are preferred to Vernon's family.
