Vicente A. De La Cruz, age 89, of Lake Station, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. Vicente had been a Lake Station resident for 40 years and retired from Inland Steel with over 30 years of service. He was a sports fanatic, especially a "die-hard" Cubs fan. Vicente enjoyed music and loved his beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
He is survived by his son, Juan M. (Sandra) De La Cruz of Westville, IN, 3 daughters, Luci E. Trinidad, Carmen D. De La Cruz and Aracelia (John) Burgos, all of Lake Station, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, beloved nephew, Claudio (Mary) Vargas of Dubuque, Iowa and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. Vicente was preceded in death by his wife, Eneida Rios De La Cruz, 4 brothers, Jose, Ismael, Jaime and Candido De La Cruz and 3 sisters, Carmen Luisa Fusa, Nereida De La Cruz and Delia De La Cruz.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery, 2701 Willowdale Rd., Portage, with Pastor Jim Lopez officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
