Victoria "Vickie" Lach, age 92, of Hobart, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015, at St. Mary Medical Center. She was born in New Chicago on September 28, 1923, to the late Joseph and Anna Zoladz. Vickie was a waitress at the Country Lounge for over 25 years and a lifetime member of Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church in New Chicago. She was a loving wife of over 40 years to her late husband, Leo and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Veronica (the late Charles) Cochran and Cynthia Lach, both of Hobart, and Mary Ann (John) Matta of Portage; 2 sons, Leon (Michelle) Lach of Miller Beach, Stephen (Dianne) Lach of Orland Park, IL; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Joan Zoladz of New Chicago; many nieces, nephews and other family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice or, as Vickie was a longtime supporter, to the Ross Music Theater Jerauld Reinhart Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o the Merrillville High Choir Boosters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 3530 Illinois St., New Chicago, with Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, December 21, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W.
