Viola "Sis" Smith, age 74, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.  She was born in Jarvis, Kentucky on December 15, 1946 to the late Martin and Evelyn (nee Price) Smith.  She was a past member of Pathway Assembly of God Church in Lake Station and a member of the America Legion in Portage.  Viola enjoyed bowling, playing BINGO, and going to garage sales.  She adored all her grandchildren and will be missed by many.

Viola is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leon Smith; children, Teresa (Rich Stover) Smith, David Smith; daughter in law, Stephanie Smith; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Smith; brother, Jabe Crit Smith; sister, Brenda Padron; and many other loving family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, PO BOX 37920, Boone IA 50037-0920.
