It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Viola “Violet” Jackura, who left this world peacefully on July 3, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on November 11, 1928, in Hammond, Indiana. Violet was a cherished daughter of John and Stella Wolendowski.
Violet married, Mike Jackura, on October 28, 1951. Together, they built a life and raised four beloved children. Their marriage was a shining example of partnership, lasting until Mike’s passing in 1993. Violet was the heart of her home, a dedicated mother whose presence was a constant source of comfort and warmth. Her children, Michael, Carolyn Allen, Deborah (James) Hall, and her brother Lawrence Wolendowski, survive her and carry forward her legacy of love and compassion.
Violet was predeceased by her husband, Mike, their son David (Coreen), her parents, John and Stella, brother, Raymond, sister-in-law Lena (Raymond), sister-in-law, Joyce (Larry), son in law Jon (Carolyn), daughter-in- law, Rhonda (Michael),great-grandchild, Jon and, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her absence will be deeply felt by those she leaves behind, including her brother Lawrence, 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life.
A woman of many talents, Violet embraced her roles as mother, cook, and homemaker with grace and dedication. Her hands were never idle, as she found joy in crafts, crocheting, flower arranging, and sewing. Each creation was a testament to her skill and her love for those she cherished. Violet was also a dedicated member of Nativity of Our Savior Church in Portage, where she attended Mass faithfully, contributed her culinary talents for events, and lent her voice to the choir for funerals, offering solace through song to those in mourning.
We celebrate her life lived with purpose and a heart that embraced all. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her, reminding us of the beauty of a life-well-lived and the everlasting bonds of family and friendship.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Violet’s memory to Nativity of Our Savior, where her spirit will continue to be a guiding light for the community she so dearly loved.
Rest in peace, dear Violet. You have left an indelible mark on our hearts, and your love will forever be our guiding light
