Virginia Amanda Emerson (nee Johnson), age 91 of Crown Point passed away Monday, September 29, 2014. She was born on September 22, 1923 to the late Lloyd and Leola Johnson. Virginia was a longtime Northwest Indiana resident, a member of the Portage Presbyterian Church, a member of the Gary Order of the Eastern Star, and a Paul Harris Fellow. She enjoyed working on crafts and doing yardwork.

She is survived by two sons, Larry (Jan) Emerson of Witchita, KS; James (Ellen) Emerson of Crown Point, IN; one daughter, Vicki (Richard) Jewell of Crown Point, IN; seven grandchildren, Phillip, Timothy, Shelley, Christa, Robert, Russell, and Michael, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William N. Emerson, four brothers, Robert, Russell, Raymond, and Donald Johnson.

Funeral services are Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St., Winfield/Crown Point with Chaplain Frank Klobucar officiating.
