Virginia M. Jurek, age 81 of Munster passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011. She was born on October 27, 1929 in Indiana Harbor to the late James and Eva Rydlewski. Virginia attended St. John Cantius grade school and graduated from Bishop Noll High School. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and the Polish Womens Alliance. Virginia enjoyed taking care of her family and was well known for her wonderful pound cake.

She is survived by her husband of over 42 years, Eugene S. Jurek of Munster, IN; 1 daughter, Christine Jurek of Grayslake, IL; 1 sister-in-law, Doloris Lew of Crown Point, IN; 3 nephews, John (Sharry) Rydlewski of Broomfield, CO; James (Katherine) Rydlewski of Valparaiso, IN; Howard (Nancy) Lew of Hanover Park, IL; 1 niece, Janet (Fred) Stephens of Loveland, CO; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her 1 brother, Arthur Rydlewski, and 1 brother-in-law, Joseph Lew.

There will be a funeral mass on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St Thomas More, 8501 Calumet Ave., Munster with Rev. Michael J. Yadron officiating. There will be a procession to Holy Cross Cemetery for Interment of cremains. Memorial visitation is Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W.
