Virginia M. Lach, age 84, a long time Portage, IN resident, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, IN.

Virginia was born on May 5, 1939 in Gary, IN to the late Albert and Veronica (nee Mikenas) Petritis. She was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School.  Virginia married the love of her life, Rich, on May 3, 1958 in Gary, IN.  They spent 56 years together until his passing in 2015.  She was a devoted homemaker. Virginia was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church.

Virginia will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Virginia is survived by her daughters: Karen (Ray) Przybysz and Marcia (late Tony) Gawrysiak; grandchildren: Eric (Angela) and Kyle (Jessica) Spurr; step-grandchildren: Ray (Megan) and Zach Przybysz; great-grandchildren: Madden, Peyton, and Greyson Spurr; step-great-grandchildren: Jocelyn Lipscomb, Zach Taylor, Madeline and Emerson Przybysz; sister: Carol (late James) Monroe; nephew and godson: AJ (Erin) Monroe and their children: Liam, Emmett, and Teagan.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband: Rich; parents: Albert and Veronica; son-in-law: Tony Gawrysiak; and brother-in-law: James Monroe.

Cremation and arrangements are entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
