Wallace Johnson, age 78, of Lake Station passed away Saturday January 4, 2025, at St Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Indiana. Wallace was born August 12, 1946, in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee to the late Walter and Lelies (Swanger) Johnson. He was a retired steel worker with thirty-five years of service with Bethlehem Steel, a member of USW Local # 6787, and member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Portage. Wallace was an award winning archer and loved to deer hunt. He attended the Lake Station Senior Center, loved hosting exchange students, and was very social. Most of all he was very proud of his family.
Wallace is survived by his wife, Deb; two sons, Matthew (Terri) Johnson of Portage, and Martin (Amy) Johnson of Kouts; three daughters, Lisa (Don) Duff of Portage, Lana (Scott) Harrison of New Carlisle, and Wendy (Jason) Bradburn of Hobart; a Stepson, Chance Draper; twenty-two grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one sister, Faye Stewart; and many other relatives and dear friends.
Wallace was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of forty-eight years, Bonnie Johnson; four brothers, W.K., Curtis, Marshall, and Howard; and six sisters, Nina Jo Alexander, Viola Sutter, Naomi Smith, Genevie Smith, Margie and Marie.
Visitation for Wallace will be Thursday January 9, 2025, at the Lakeview Baptist Church 2321 Dombey Road Portage, Indiana from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. His funeral service will follow immediately at 1:00 pm with Brother James Williams officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel assisted with arrangements.
