Walter J. Armfield, age 82 of Portage passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa on January 27, 1933, to the late August and Bernice Armfield. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from the Ray Vogue School of Photography. Walter worked at Burell Photography as a professional Photographer and Film Developer. He was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Chesterton. He had a passion for photography. Walter enjoyed canoeing, traveling and covered bridge photography.
He is survived by cousins, Eldon Waldschmidt of Hobart, IN; Linda Chiesi of Indianapolis, IN; Kathleen Ondras of Clarksville, TN; Diane (Mark) Davis of Lake Station, IN; Carol Webber of Portage, IN; special friend, Juanita Coffman.
Funeral services are Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Pastor Larry Starett officiating. Burial will take place in Iowa City, Iowa.
