WALTER JOHN POZDOL, age 93, of Michigan City, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012. Walter was born in New Chicago on November 18, 1918 to Joseph and Angela Pozdol. Walter served his country in the US Army during WWII, and retired from US Steel with 42 years of service. He enjoyed playing in his band the Hightones at weddings with his brother. He will be missed by those who knew him.

Walter is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Edith (nee Baxter); son, Larry (Sue) Pozdol of Michigan City; daughter, Sandy (Jerry) Pero of Hobart; 4 grandchildren, Lisa, Kevin, Eric, Tamie; 5 great grandchildren, Haley, Joshua, Vladimir, Kimberly, Michael; 2 great-great grandchildren, Tianna and Hanna; 2 sisters, Jean (Leon) McDaniel and Pat Sample; other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Fred and Ted; and sisters, Emily, Annie and Trudy.

A funeral service for Walter will be Monday, January 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
