Wanda L. (nee Cook) Goley, age 82, of Portage, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016. She was born on December 28, 1933 in Corbin, Kentucky to the late Charles and Nanny Cook. On June 5, 1954, she married the love of her life, James P. Goley, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Portage Missionary Baptist Church. Wanda worked as a waitress at the Flying J truck stop for over 30 years, where she loved working with the public. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and cooking. Above all, she cherished her family and the time she spent with them. She will always be remembered as a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Wanda is survived by her son, Darrel (Gail) Goley; grandchildren, Michelle Rapchak, Lisa Goley, James (Fawn) Goley, Shawn (Danielle) Goley; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Parrigan, and Sharon (Bob) Callahan; many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Goley in 2001; brother, Charles Cook; and sister, Mildred Young.
Visitation for Wanda will be held Friday, December 16, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will take place Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Mitchell Tabla officiating. She will be laid to rest at Heritage Cemetery in Portage.
