Wanda Jane Haner, age 65 of Portage, passed away on July 30, 2023. Wanda was born November 24, 1957, in Savannah, TN, to the late James and Robbie (nee Horton) Johnson. She was a 1980 graduate of Purdue West Lafayette where she received a bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences.  Wanda was a member of Inland Manor Baptist Church, and a Christian counselor. She retired from Lake County Economic Opportunity Council Inc., where she worked as a Social Worker. She was also a member of the Lake County Council of Aging and volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America. Wanda will be remembered for her dedication to her husband and her children and their school activities, her love for her grandchildren and the compassion she showed to her clients. She loved listening to music, singing and going to the movies on Friday nights with her sister.

Wanda is proceeded in death by her daughter Rachel Haner; parents, James and Robbie Johnson, and sister: Janet Goldsmith.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband Larry Haner; daughter Robbie Haner of Clovis, CA; two grandchildren, Lillith Zack-Haner, and Vincent Miller-Haner; her brother, Joey (Collen) Johnson; her sister Judy (David) Alsop; her brothers-in-law Dennis (Joyce) Haner and Randy Goldsmith; and sister-in-law: Diane Haner.

A funeral service will be held at Inland Manor Baptist Church, 630 North County Line Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342 on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 1:00 pm, with Ryon Adcock officiating. Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Portage, Indiana 46368. Visitation for Wanda will be Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 3:00 pm-7:00 pm also at Inland Manor Baptist Church.
