Wanda Nedza (Wegrzyn) passed away on May 2, 2012 in Peoria, Illinois. She was born in Dzierzkowice, Poland and was a resident of New Chicago and Portage, Indiana for over 50 years. Wanda retired from Greenwald Surgical Company in Lake Station, Indiana with 23 years of service. She was a member of Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church in New Chicago. She was also a member of Polish Woman's Alliance Group 778, Polish National Alliance and Northwest Indiana Retirees Club.
Wanda is survived by 1 daughter, Linda (George) Mattie in Florida; her son James (Pat) in Peoria, Illinois; and two grandsons, Nick and Alex Nedza of Iowa.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Stanislaw and Marianna Wegrzyn and her three sisters Irena Plecha, Helena Zarzycki, and Natalia Firlej all in Poland. Also preceded in death by Anthony "Tony", her husband of 50 years
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana and then proceed to Assumption B.V.M. Church, 3530 Illinois St., Hobart, for the Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Portage, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. with a prayer service at 4:30 PM and a Rosary service at 6:30 PM.
