Wilfred A. Burrows

Wilfred A. Burrows, age 79 of Porter, Indiana passed away at home on December 17, 2024. He was born on March 24, 1945, in Wells, Nevada to the late Fred E. and Betty C. Burrows. He proudly served his country as military police in the Air Force during Vietnam. Will held many different positions with National Railway Equipment Company, ending his career as Vice President of International Operations. He was truly a modern day intellectual. An avid traveler, he traveled to six of the seven continents and enjoyed traveling cross-country in his RV during retirement. As a cowboy growing up in Montana, he had a passion for tractors.  He rebuilt an antique D-10 Allis-Chalmers that was showcased in many parades. Above all, he loved his family and will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianna (nee Willis) Burrows; daughters, Laura (Chris) Meiers, Theresa Nilson (nee Riggens); son, Brian Riggens; grandchildren, Andrew (Candace) Rippe, Joey Beard, Ashley (Leroy Flores, Jr.) Nilson, Dakota Riggens; great grandchildren, Abagail, Landon, Conner, Tyler, Vera and Jacklynn; sisters, Pat (Clarence) Foisy, Sally Morgan, Amy (Richard) Kirschner; brother, Russ (Kathy) Burrows; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Betty Burrows; and brother-in-law, Jim Morgan.

Memorial contributions in Will's name may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation or Dunes Hospice.

Visitation for Wilfred will be held Friday, December 27, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. A funeral service will take place Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery. For more information, please call (219) 762-3013.
