William Jay Aldrin

WILLIAM JAY ALDRIN August 5th, 1954 - April 14th, 2020

age 65 a lifetime Hobart resident passed away April 14, 2020.  He was born on August 5, 1954 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Emil and Sadie Aldrin.  He graduated from Hobart High School and worked at Youngstown Sheet & Tube which ultimately became LTV Steel in East Chicago. William was an avid supporter of the Deep River Grinder's vintage baseball team for several decades and was affectionally known as "Sarsaparilla Willy" to those who attended the games. He is survived by his brothers David (Kathy) and John (Trish). He had one nephew Casey (Maxine), and three nieces Raven Bond (Rory), Rachael Hastings (Peter), and Angela Payne (Brian). He also had several grandnieces and grandnephews. We will hold a small memorial service for him sometime this summer at one of his favorite spots.  Cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Hobart Chapel.  (219) 942-2109.
