William "Bill" C. Leets

WILLIAM C. LEETS, age 90, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017. He was born in Gary on August 24, 1926 to the late Clarence and Emma (nee Goodwin) Leets. Bill was a 1945 graduate of Lew Wallace High School and proudly served in the US Army in the Philippines during WWII. Bill retired from NIPSCO after 37 years as a service man. He was a former member of the Hobart City Council, Board of Public Works, Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals. Bill was also a longtime member of the Hobart VFW Post #5365, American Legion Post #54 and the Hobart Elks #1152. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marian (nee Anderson); son, David W. (Karen) Leets, San Jose, CA; daughter, Diane L. (Anthony) Zuccarini, Houston, TX; 4 grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Johnson, Franklin, TX, Angela (Kyle) Kelly, Houston, TX; Andrea (fiancé, Mark Sumlin) Leets, Woodridge, IL and Jeffrey (fiancée, Rachel Shrage) Leets, Chicago, IL; great grandson, Case Johnson.
Bill was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald G. Leets; 2 sisters, Dorothy M. Felton and Betty L. Gill.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., with visitation from 1:00 until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Strietelmeier officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home and private burial will take place at Chesterton Cemetery.
